Merging accounts

Merge two accounts belonging to the same person, so the member keeps one account with their full history.

Sometimes a member ends up with two accounts — for example an old account plus a trial account created later. With Absorb account you merge them: memberships, transactions, memos and suspensions move to the remaining account, and the member keeps their full history in one place.

Where to find it

Open the account that remains — the account the member will continue with, whose player name they keep. At the top of the user page, choose Actions → Absorb account….

Mind the direction: you are on the account that remains, and you then choose which account gets absorbed. The absorbed account is emptied and the action cannot be undone.

Choosing the account

In the window you pick the account to absorb. The list is prefilled with the other accounts sharing the same email address — the usual way a duplicate stands out. If the account you need is not listed, you can search for it.

The comparison

As soon as you pick an account, a side-by-side comparison appears: Remains and Gets absorbed. For both accounts you see the name, date of birth, email address, status, expiry date and last login, plus the numbers of memberships, transactions, memos and suspensions that would move over.

Check here that it really is the same person before clicking Absorb.

What happens

  • Memberships, transactions, memos and suspensions move to the remaining account.
  • The expiry date and status of the remaining account are updated immediately: the longest (transferred) membership counts.
  • The absorbed account is left empty and is cleaned up automatically later. Its player name becomes available for reuse.
  • A memo is added to the remaining account automatically, and the merge is recorded in the activity log.

Safeguards

The action refuses in two situations:

  • The account has a role (for example a TD or support account). Those are deliberately created duplicates of the same person — they must never be merged.
  • The account has a participation-points balance. Book the balance down to zero first, then perform the merge.
Did the duplicate come from a signup? Since July 2026 the signup form already flags existing email addresses at the source — see Caught at the source.
